Summary
NfeD like
This clan includes the NfeD family which contains several proteins described as nodulation efficiency protein D (NfeD). The nfe genes (nfeA, nfeB, and nfeD) are involved in the nodulation efficiency and competitiveness of the Sinorhizobium meliloti strain GR4 on alfalfa roots [1]. The specific function the NfeD family is unknown although it is unlikely that NfeD is specifically involved in nodulation as the family contains several different archaeal and bacterial species most of which are not symbionts.
This clan contains 2 families and the total number of domains in the clan is 4042. The clan was built by J Mistry.

Structures
For those sequences which have a structure in the Protein DataBank, we use the mapping between UniProt, PDB and Pfam coordinate systems from the MSD group, to allow us to map Pfam domains onto UniProt three-dimensional structures. The table below shows the mapping between the Pfam families in this clan, the corresponding UniProt entries, and the region of the three-dimensional structures that are available for that sequence.
